Air percussion drilling is commonly used for household borehole drilling. The topsoil and overburden rock will be pierced with a 219mm drill bit. This huge diameter is required to install 177mm steel casing. This prevents the borehole from collapsing and prevents sand and debris from entering the pump. The casing is usually only necessary for unstable overburden layers (from the surface to about 20m).
Gravel pack and perforated casing can be inserted if needed. After the borehole is finished, it must be developed (flushed).<\/p>

This test requires a temporary test pump. The pump runs at a set rate and time, while the borehole’s water level is monitored. Testing yield without measuring water levels is essentially a performance test for the pump and equipment.<\/p>

Borehole drilling is a big investment. Its water output is a significant asset. This asset should be thoroughly tested and measured. This determines how much water may be utilized without reducing yield. Less than recharge total abstraction<\/p>
